This year’s Hasbro Pulse Premium Fanstream is just a few days away, but that hasn’t stopped some fresh and exciting Marvel news from coming out prior to the October 27th event! Not only did Hasbro officially announce a Reavers Pretty Boy figure last week, but now leaked photos have confirmed updated Marvel Legends Ronan the Accuser and Blob figures coming to the Marvel Legends 2023 lineup!

Marvel Legends 2023 Blob Ronan the Accuser Pretty Boy Figures

If anyone asked me to make a list of 100 (or even 300) X-Men 6″ figures I would want Hasbro to make, the cyborg Pretty Boy of the classic Reavers team would certainly not have made that list.

But we are living in a golden age of 6” Marvel Legends where seemingly anything and everything is possible, and as such, Hasbro officially announced a 2023 Marvel Legends Pretty Boy action figure last week!

Debuting in 1988 as one of the core named Reavers, Pretty Boy’s entire body beneath his organic head has been released by a Terminator-like cybernetic form. He also can emit optic mind-control filaments from his eyes and capture coils from his chest, making him quite a formidable killer robot. With all the other somewhat marketable Reavers already released (Lady Deathstrike, the Bonebreaker Build-A-Figure, Donald Pierce from the Hellfire Club box set and Skullcruncher/Reese from the Caliban Series), I suspect Pretty Boy will be the last member of that faction we see produced by Hasbro.

Pretty Boy’s robotic body mold is sure to be in high demand from customizers, but it won’t come cheap—he’s expected to be included exclusively as part of a highly-rumored 5-pack next year with Random, Zero, Stryfe and Vertigo. He comes with two pairs of hands, plus twin pistols and four energy effects.

Of course, this never-before-done-as-an-articulated-figure is far less hype-worthy than the other two new releases that word leaked out regarding this weekend— remakes of two rare Build-A-Figures from 2007!

First, we’ve got a comics-based ML Ronan the Accuser figure in his iconic costume, likely being made now to capitalize on the upcoming The Marvels movie. The Fantastic Four Legends version has long been expensive and sought after, and was also beginning to feel a mite dated, so it’s definitely high time a new one hits stores as a solo release. Ronan will include his signature hammer, which is real the only weapon or accessory you ever need for this guy. This cosmic villain will pair well with the now-shipping Galactus Haslab 32″ mega-figure.

In addition, Marvel Legends Blob will also be returning as a deluxe boxed release, with two new heads. Fred will have open hands and fists, as well as frowning and yelling heads (sorry, no smirking face from the original Blob BAF included). A must-have for any X-Men villains lineup that makes me really wish the ML Pyro we got a few years back was better than it is.

I know that updates to past Build-A-Figures is controversial among collectors, but I think fresh re-makes of these two well-known characters are definitely warranted after over 15 years. Good call, Hasbro!

What do you think of this trio of new entries to the 2023 Marvel Legends lineup? Is Hasbro off to a good start with next year’s series, or are none of these villains up your alley?
