The Sundance Film Festival back in 2020 kicked off with Shana Feste‘s Run Sweetheart Run, which Meagan Navarro called “an entertaining battle soaked in blood. The movie has been off the map completely since then, but it has resurfaced this Halloween season and we finally have a premiere date. The horror film debuts on Amazon Prime Video on October 28!

While you wait, Prime Video has unleashed the official trailer for Run Sweetheart Run today, which begins a bloody and sadistic game when date night goes horribly wrong.

“After what begins as dinner with a client, a single mom (Ella Balinska) finds herself hunted by a monstrous and seemingly unstoppable assailant (Pilou Asbæk) in this terrifying thriller.”

Here’s a longer plot synopsis we’ve been provided with today…

“Initially apprehensive when her boss insists she meet with one of his most important clients, single mom Cherie is relieved and excited when she meets charismatic Ethan. The influential businessman defies expectations and sweeps Cherie off her feet. But at the end of the night, when the two are alone together, he reveals his true, violent nature. Battered and terrified, she flees for her life, beginning a relentless game of cat-and-mouse with a bloodthirsty assailant hell-bent on her utter destruction. In this edge-of-your-seat dark thriller, Cherie finds herself in the crosshairs of a conspiracy stranger and more evil than she could have ever imagined.”

The cast for Blumhouse’s dark thriller Run Sweetheart Run also includes Shohreh Aghdashloo, Clark Gregg, Aml Ameen, Dayo Okeniyi, and Betsy Brandt.

Feste wrote the script with Keith Josef Adkins and Kellee Terrell.

Run Sweetheart Run was one of the early victims of the Covid pandemic, originally set for theatrical release in May 2020. It was shortly thereafter that Amazon Prime picked the film up.
