Lucario is a fan-favorite in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and giving it the best moveset possible will help it survive in brutal battles. This Pokémon initially debuted in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl as another Fighting and Steel-type Pokémon. Although, its popularity grew due to its relationship to the Pokémon anime, debuting one of its most popular films. Lucario and the Mystery of Mew bring together Ash Ketchum and Lucario as they must enter the Tree of Life to retrieve Pikachu, who has been teleported away into the depths of the tree. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, he’s a solid Fighting and Steel-type Pokémon to have.
Trainers looking to add a Lucario to their team in Pokémon Legends: Arceus will need to wait until they reach Alabaster Icelands. An Alpha Lucario will appear in this biome within Icebound Falls. Alternatively, players can capture a Riolu in the same area. This Pokémon also has the chance of spawning over at Snowfall Hot Spring. To get Riolu to evolve into Lucario, players will need to max out its friendship. Fortunately, it’s easier than ever to get max friendship in this game. Just use Riolu in battle, send it out to collect resources, and heal it when it’s hurt. Eventually, it will be able to evolve from high friendship during the day.
The best moveset for Lucario would be Crunch, Aura Sphere, Close Combat, and Dragon Pulse. With Lucario being a Fighting and Steel-type Pokémon, it has weaknesses to Fire and Fighting-type attacks. Out of all of its stats, its physical attack stat is the highest, with speed being directly behind. This means Lucario can dish out a lot of physical damage and will likely speed many opponents. Although, his lack of HP, Defense, and Special Defense leaves it fairly vulnerable.
Best Lucario Moves in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
- Crunch: The user crunches up the target with sharp fangs. This may also lower the target’s defensive stats.
- Aura Sphere: The user lets loose a blast of aura power from deep within its body at the target. This attack never misses.
- Close Combat: The user fights the target up close, inflicting damage without guarding itself. This also lowers the user’s defensive stats.
- Dragon Pulse: The target is attacked with a shock wave generated by the user’s gaping mouth. This attack never misses.
Most of these attacks do a ton of damage and have a chance to lower an opponent’s defenses. In the case of Dragon Pulse, it doesn’t do the most damage, but it’s helpful to have a move that can never miss. While there is no competitive PvP available in the game, some of the later battles can be pretty difficult. Trainers will face off against Volo and Giratina in Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘ post-game, one of the most challenging bosses in the series. A powerful Lucario can make this battle a bit easier.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available now on Nintendo Switch.
