What will you discover in paradise?
Two brand new thrillers are on the way from M. Night Shyamalan and Universal, and the first one coming soon is titled Old. The film’s current theatrical date is July 23, 2021.
The full trailer this morning heads once again into the Shyamalan Mystery Box, with Old taking a family to a remote beach that’s not quite as relaxing as it initially seems. Turns out it’s a paradise of horrors, where everyone who steps foot on the beach seems to be aging and even decomposing at alarming rates. And it’s all part of a much bigger mystery, of course.
What’s really going on here? We’ll find out soon. Preview the body-horror nightmare below.
Here’s the official synopsis, which speeds up the horrors of aging…
“This summer, Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day.”
The film stars an international cast including Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Embeth Davidtz, Eliza Scanlen, Emun Elliott, Kathleen Chalfant and Thomasin McKenzie.
Old is a Blinding Edge Pictures production, directed and produced by M. Night Shyamalan, from his screenplay based on the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters. The film is also produced by Ashwin Rajan (Glass, AppleTV+’s Servant) and Marc Bienstock (Glass, Split). The film’s executive producer is Steven Schneider.
