With the extended time frame of playing the Resident Evil Village demo, you knew that some players would be looking for ways to get around the 60-minute time limit. Lo and behold, someone has found a way to reset the demo timer.

The demo communicates with Capcom’s servers with a countdown timer. Users on the Steam forums were able to identify and alter the files with a trainer to simply reset the timer.

Of course, Capcom caught wind of this, and took down the server to prevent players from further exploiting the hack. The results of this were predictable:

Meanwhile, seeing as Village uses the RE Engine, you knew that someone was going to employ some of the modding techniques that we got with the Resident Evil 2 remake and Resident Evil 3. The modder known as Marcos certainly took advantage of it, bringing everyone’s favourite purple dinosaur into Village:

Marcos wasn’t the only one to pull some trickery, as another modder, DarknessValtier, was able to get a third-person camera working for Village. Guess we’ll have to wait for the inevitable full game version for that one.

Resident Evil Village unleashes onto the masses May 7 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Google Stadia, and PC via Steam.
