Before he took a trip to the Overlook Hotel to adapt Doctor Sleep, Mike Flanagan first dipped his toes into Stephen King‘s library with Gerald’s Game, a novel previously thought to be unfilmable. Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood star as a couple trying to spice up their marriage in a remote lake house. After the husband dies unexpectedly, however, the wife is left handcuffed to their bed frame and must fight to survive and break free.

Flanagan’s Gerald’s Game was released onto Netflix in September 2017, with King himself calling the film “hypnotic, horrifying and terrific.” Unfortunately, like all Netflix Original Movies, Gerald’s Game has never been released onto physical media, only available for viewing on the streaming service to this day. And that means we’ve never gotten any special features either.

But that’s the bad news. The good news? Getting together with The Commentary Cast, Mike Flanagan sat down to a record a commentary track for Gerald’s Game, now available to all!

Flanagan tweets, “If you’ve ever wanted to hear a director’s commentary for Gerald’s Game, here you go… many thanks for Grant for including me. Still hoping @netflix will incorporate commentary tracks as an option on their original content – it’d only be upside for them!”
