The Boys college spinoff show adds three more actors to its cast, including Teenage Bounty Hunters star Maddie Phillips. Amazon Prime Video has quickly watched as The Boys became one of the most popular and discussed superhero TV shows in the world. The launch of season 2 in 2020 saw viewership skyrocket as more people caught up on the dark and satirical spin on superheroes and the current obsession with them in pop culture. In addition to moving forward with The Boys season 3, Amazon confirmed plans for the universe to expand with its first spinoff.
Amazon revealed in late 2020 that they were fast-tracking a The Boys spinoff show that follows a new generation of heroes. The show is based around a Vought-sponsored college for powered individuals and tests how far they will go to achieve their dreams of being a superhero. The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke, is producing the series and Craig Rosenberg is writing the pilot and will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Development on the untitled spinoff has moved as quickly as promised, and now three more cast members have joined the show.

According to Deadline, the newest cast members of The Boys‘ college spinoff show are Shane Paul McGhie, Aimee Carrero, and Maddie Phillips. They join previously announced stars, Jaz Sinclair and Lizze Broadway. Character details have not been revealed for any of the cast members, other than the confirmation that they will all be aspiring superheroes who attend Vought’s college. Shane Paul McGhie is best known for his role in the Fox drama, Deputy. Aimee Carrero has voice credits on She-Ra and the Princess of Power and also starred in Freeform’s Young & Hungry. Maddie Phillips is fresh off starring in Netflix’s cult-favorite series, Teenage Bounty Hunters.
Now that The Boys‘ spinoff has more cast members, the show continues to make great progress for Amazon. This will hopefully mean some information on the specific story, the characters, or even the title will come soon. Series producer, Kripke, says that the concept is inspired by the comics’ parody of the X-Men, known as G-Men. It remains to be seen just how close to the comics The Boys‘ spinoff will stay to the concept or if any of the main characters will be lifted from the comics. The G-Men and its various members don’t have too big of roles in the source material, so the show could make plenty of changes without angering fans.
As Amazon continues to build their The Boys universe, it will be fascinating to see if there is any crossover between the spinoffs and the main series. The Boys season 3 recently started filming and could still be in production by the time the spinoff begins filming. It could be smart on Amazon’s part to feature some characters from the spinoff in the main show as a way to give the new property an unofficial backdoor pilot. Then again, the opposite approach could be taken and see a core member of The Seven, like Starlight, Queen Maeve, or Homelander, visit the Vought-run college to talk to the students. Hopefully more details on The Boys‘ first spinoff will come soon, but the casting process is off to a strong start so far.
