Oh Boy Records, the independent, family-run record label started by John Prine and his longtime manager Al Bunetta, is getting a new documentary. The film celebrates the label’s 40th anniversary, and includes archival footage of John Prine as well as interviews with Todd Snider, Prine’s wife and Oh Boy president Fiona Whelan Prine, members of the Oh Boy staff, and more. Check out the trailer below.

In addition to the film (which will be released on the label’s YouTube page), Oh Boy will celebrate its four decades with special releases (such as new music from Tré Burt and a special edition John Prine 7″ box set), reissues, pop-up events, and more to be announced.

Each week this year, the label will highlight a different album or artist from their catalogue in a series that kicks off Friday (February 24). The first band in the series is Nashville group the Bis-Quits. 2021 also marks the 50th anniversary of Prine’s self-titled debut album, which Oh Boy will reissue later this year.
