Ant-Man and the Wasp actor Michael Peña says he doesn’t know what’s going to happen in the currently in-development Ant-Man 3 – and he even seems to be keeping mum about the fate of his character Luis following the death and return of half the Marvel Universe’s population.

“I have no idea [if Luis disappeared or not]. Ant-Man 3 is not going to be shot for another year or so,” Peña told The Hollywood Reporter, referring to whether Luis was ‘Snapped’ by Thanos and then ‘Blipped’ by the Hulk or not. “After my involvement in the first two Ant-Man movies, we really won’t even know what’s going to happen until one-to-two months before we film. Right now, Marvel is in a really cool position where they can break hearts by who they bring back and who they don’t. But, I’m still interested even though I have no idea what’s gonna happen, and I can’t wait to find out.”

It’s unclear if Peña is commenting on the general fate of his character, or if he’s remaining quiet about whether he’ll return in the role.

It’s not uncommon for MCU supporting cast actors to speak about returning to their roles in ambiguous terms until an official announcement is made.

Just as Peña is ready to return as Luis, it seems fans are ready for more of his signature storytelling style – some even ask him to perform his monologues.

“Yeah, I get that but not very often. I do get that for some reason — and I decline,” Peña explained. “The thing is, when you have amazing writers, somebody like Kevin Feige overlooking it and then you’re reworking it and reworking it, it takes a long time to actually get it right. So, when somebody asks me just to recreate it on a whim, it’s not something that I jump to and want to do automatically. I get it, though, but sometimes, you just want a role to live in the movie.”

Luis was last seen in 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. No release date has been set for the still officially untitled Ant-Man 3.
