The moment that the first trailer for the Black Widow movie dropped and the corresponding movie Legends wave was revealed last month, collectors started demanding to know when and where we’d be getting a figure of the eye-grabbing white costume seen prominently in the trailer. Well, Hasbro didn’t make us wait too long for the answer: the Deluxe Black Widow Marvel Legends White Costume figure is now up for order with free shipping—and she comes packing extra gun, effects pieces, explosions, a flight stand and more!
When there was no white costume Black Widow figure announced at all for the Marvel Legends Black Widow series (that didn’t seem likely to get a wave 2), I thought that maybe Hasbro was holding out on that version to release as a store exclusive like they did Binary and Starforce Captain Marvel last year.
But nope—they had bigger and better plans for the popular white costume Natasha Romanoff! For the first time I can remember, we’re getting a deluxe boxed version of a standard movie Marvel Legends 6” figure!
Rather than being limited by what they cost in to a normal $20-$22 SKU, Hasbro has designed this $29.99 Deluxe Black Widow that they can give all the bells and whistles to accessories-wise.
Want interchangeable hands? There’s six to choose from! Blast effects pieces? Five! Pistols! Climbing hooks! Widow’s Sting electrical effects! There’s even two sizes of explosions to pick from when setting up your display! Hasbro clearly had a ton of fun with this box set, which feels a lot like the $80 and up Bandai SH Figuarts releases that we get here in the US domestically—but at a fraction of the price.
And hey—there’s even a “flight stand” included—something a lot of collectors have really been wanting to see Hasbro put into circulation! It’s sort of ironic that we get one with a character who can’t fly in Natasha Romanoff, but it works wonderfully as a clear generic posing stand just as well. Love seeing a Hasbro Black Widow figure able to do aerial jump kick poses! I am sort of bummed to still not see improved arm articulation on a “deluxe” female figure, though. Alas.
And for those who prefer their Black Widow in a costume that’s, well… black… have no fear: that iconic costume is still available for pre-order as well, although it’s short packed in the movie series at one-per-case and I do expect it to pre-sell out at some point as we get closer to its shipping date.
The Marvel Legends White Black Widow Deluxe figure is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released in March 2020. She’s listed on BBTS, Amazon and EE now, so there’s plenty of options for choosing your favorite retailers, and I don’t foresee this going to sold out status very quickly at a $30 MSRP (even if I think this iteration of Natasha is well worth that price).
What are your feelings on deluxe Marvel Legends releases like this Black Widow box set? Would you like to see more $30-ish figures like this with lots of accessories produced by Hasbro, or are you satisfied with the standard range of $20 ML we’ve become accustomed to?
