Despite what fans may have thought, The Hills: New Beginnings star Brody Jenner confims that his ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter will be apart of season 2 of The Hills reboot, which will feature details surrounding their split.

Jenner, Carter, and their marriage was a major topic of conversation on the first season of MTV’s The Hills reboot, which finished airing on September 9, 2019. The former couple faced backlash throughout the season on and off screen for their “fake” marriage, and dealt with rumors about being in an open marriage. It was obvious to viewers of the show that the pair clearly was not in agreement about all aspects of their marriage, and ultimately it didn’t come as surprise to fans or their cast members when the couple announced their split. Both have since moved on from the marriage, Jenner with Victoria Secret model Josie Canseco, and Carter was in a brief relationship with Miley Cyrus, though the pair have since split. Some of the original The Hills cast members, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, speculated that Carter wouldn’t be on season 2 of the series, but it seems that her ex-husband knows otherwise.

During a visit to ET while promoting his new single “It’s Alive” with his EDM band AHZ, Jenner was asked about the upcoming season of The Hills. The Hills: New Beginnings star clarified that though he hasn’t started filming, the season will definitely feature the aftermath of his split from Carter, which occurred in the summer after the first season had already begun airing. When discussing the separation, Jenner said “I’m sure you’re going to see a lot of that,” but wouldn’t reveal any specifics. He told fans, “you have to stay tuned to see what goes on with that. But, you’ll definitely see some of that.” Jenner was also probed on whether or not his current girlfriend, Canseco, would appear on the season, but he was equally as cryptic in answering the question, saying that “everything is kind of up in the air with MTV about who’s going to be on the second season.” Jenner continued by claiming that, “there’s no preparation for the kind of things that they throw at you. If you prepare for something, they’ll throw a complete curveball.”

The 36-year-old also touched on what it’s like to be so open with the world about his life talking about how “it’s tough to put yourself out there,” but that “it can be very therapeutic as well.” Jenner says that “to put yourself out there and leave yourself open for judgment can also be helpful to your daily life and moving forward in how you grow up,” and he later adds that “it’s a process but, like I said, ultimately we signed up for this for a reason.” With Jenner continuing to focus on his band and on his music career, he said he hopes that in the upcoming season of the show they will “start filming more about what we actually do in our real life,” rather than “just gossiping and sitting at a restaurant or going to a nightclub.”

It seems that despite his martial troubles during season one, which ultimately led to Jenner splitting from Carter, Jenner is in a good place heading into a season two of The Hills: New Beginnings - or at the very least, he’s at peace with everything that went on between him and his now ex-wife. Though it would be interesting for fans to see more about Jenner’s music career or behind-the-scenes of Heidi and Spencer’s business, Pratt Daddy Crystals, fans hope they don’t stray too far away from the traditional scenes, because what would The Hills: New Beginnings be without a little gossiping?
