SDCC 2025: Marvel Legends X-Men 97 Wave 3 Figures! Cable! Morph! Jubilee! Emma Frost!

At SDCC this time last year, fans were demanding more X-Men 97 Marvel Legends figures, but the Hasbro Marvel team let them know they’d have to wait. One year later, the wait is over! Just revealed at SDCC 2025 yesterday, the Marvel Legends X-Men ‘97 Wave 3 figures are now up for order today, including Cable, White Queen Emma Frost, Morph, Jubilee and more! Which of these figures were worth waiting to add to *your* collection, X-Men fans?

Oddly enough, the two figures that I consider headliners of this wave are also ones I don’t normally associate as actual members of the X-Men TAS team: Cable and White Queen Emma Frost.

Hasbro has done quite a few Cable figures over the years now, and I think as a whole this new one isn’t the best version. Because he’s from a cartoon, this X-Men 97 Cable Legends figure ends up feeling more “clean” and “soft” than I like my Nathaniel Dayspring Summers action figures looking.

That said, “the wild man of Borneo” here does have one big advantage over last year’s great MvC styled Cable: an awesome-looking giant gun. The guns and blast effects really sell this figure to me, though I do miss the neat psychic eye effect from the 2024 figure.

White Queen Emma Frost is beginning to amass a solid number of toy releases too now, but I don’t mind another since several of the past releases have been real misfires. This particular Emma Frost is very classic, in her Hellfire Club gear including corset, ultra-high boots and fuzzy cape.

We get a bitchy open-mouthed portrait for Emma here as an alternate head, as well as psychic gesturing hands. This White Queen figure just looks excellent all-around, and is basically guaranteed to be a hit sales-wise.

Jubilee is in the upper echelon of my favorite X-Men team members, so I’m glad to see her getting representation here, even if this is not the costume I would have preferred. I didn’t like the black jumpsuit costume in the comics or when Hasbro picked it for the Jubilee Build-A-Figure, and I don’t like it now.

I’m hoping we’ll get a modified version of this Jubilee figure in Generation X costume in the next year or so, but obviously Hasbro couldn’t have given us a costume not from the cartoon in the X-Men 97 series of toys.

But anyway, I see this Jubilee as a solid seller at retail that lots of kids and adults will want to build their X-Men TAS team. The Soft drink cup and new fireworks effects are fun, but I really do miss the iconic pink shirt and jorts look.

Speaking of completing the animated X-Men roster, we also get the penultimate missing member of the team here (sorry, Beast) in the form of X-Men 97 Morph. I’ve loved this character since his death and rebirth in the original cartoon, and I’m so hyped to get an official Hasbro version of him.Along with an interchangeable X-Men 92 head, we’ve also got the premiere of a Henry Gyrich head with this Morph. The Hasbro team suggested sticking the head onto a suited body to make a Gyrich figure, and that’s just what I’ll do.Morph isn’t the most exciting toy, but for completion and team-building if nothing else, I think he’ll do quite well at retail.

Given that Roberto DaCosta is one of the founding New Mutants and a former Avenger, it boggles my mind that he’s previously only had two mass release action figures available during his 40+ years of existence and hundreds of comic book appearances. Toybiz released just one Sunspot figure in the 90s in their X-Force series, and Hasbro has previously released just one as well (also in his X-Force costume).

But thanks to Bobby’s inclusion in X-Men ‘97, we’re finally getting Sunspot in his New Mutants costume! The head is quite specific to the animated appearance of the character, but I think the likeness is “close enough” to satisfy most New Mutants fans. Bobby includes alt hands and some fire effects, which look quite good in the official photos.

I really, really wish we could have gotten a Doug Ramsey head here to kitbash this into the first Cypher action figure ever, but I think Hasbro will get to that before too long in a comic book wave now (with Doug as Apocalypse’s heir, Revelation, if nothing else).

Logan (AKA Wolverine in civilian clothes) seems like such a given for this line that I’m a tad surprised we didn’t already get it even sooner than the third wave. Toybiz did a Logan version like this back in the 90s and it almost rotted off the shelves, but here’s hoping this new edition meets a more positive fate.

I’m more than satisfied with the comic book version of Logan we got in the Sabretooth 2-pack last year (with cowboy hat!), but this is a nice solo option for those who missed it or who prefer a more animated look.

It’s got the same playing cards included as the 2024 figure, along with hands with claws retracted. This isn’t a terribly exciting release, but it feels sort of mandatory.

X-Men 97 Legends Wave 3 went up for pre-order at 5PM EST today and is scheduled to arrive late in 2025. I think it’s a fair bet that Cable and Emma Frost are sure to be the “hot” figures in this wave, although Jubilee and Morph will be popular long-term as core members of the team who don’t get toys often. Poor Sunspot really does feel like discount store bait, unfortunately (though I love Bobby and hope otherwise!), along with that Logan version of Wolverine.
