Maybe not a smash success in theaters, but Clown in a Cornfield definitely made its mark. Now you can watch it at home on digital through your favorite online entertainment marketplace.

The film opened on May 9 to great reviews. It’s a traditional slasher feel combined with an almost meta sense of humor. Clown in a Cornfield opened strong, and, to date, has made over $8 million worldwide.

It’s based on a 2020 book by Adam Cesare; a sequel was released in 2022 and a third is on the way.

Director of the film, Eli Craig, has fun with the source material in his theatrical version, but comedy isn’t what drew him to the project. He spoke with iHorror just ahead of the film’s release.

“For me the thing that sets this clown movie apart is that it’s a classic sort of slasher killer,” he said. “A lot of clown movies are supernatural, this is a genuine person and there is something very fathomable about him, like, in the end, you’ll get why they’re doing this.”

The film follows, “Quinn and her father who have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the clown comes out to play.”
