Hasbro successfully launched their Marvel Legends 2025 fall anniversary campaign last week with two fast-selling exclusive Marvel vs Capcom inspired two-packs: Wolverine vs Silver Samurai and Psylocke vs Thanos (which sold out in under an hour). But this week, they’re expanding with the sole mass release item in the series: the very blue Marvel Legends Captain America vs Venom figures two-pack goes up for order this Thursday!

Venom is commonly thought of as a hero/anti-hero today, but that wasn’t the case in the early 90s. Eddie Brock was a pure villain at first, and it wasn’t until the Venom Lethal Protector limited series in 1993 that Venom really transitioned into a more heroic role.

Venom Lethal Protector is also important for depicting Venom in blue on its iconic covers, a palette that Capcom would then utilize themselves in their beloved 90s Marvel fighting games. The light blue color of the character made him a lot easier to see and play with/against on the various levels in the games. And so, the legend of “Blue Venom” began!

Blue Venom has long been a fan favorite among MvC fans, to the point where PCS has a 1:10 scale resin statue of the color scheme arriving this year (shown above). So it’s not entirely shocking to see this very unique colored symbiote as part of the lineup for Hasbro’s long-rumored Marvel vs Capcom inspired series.

Hasbro definitely picked an eye-popping bright blue for this GamerVerse Venom figure, and I absolutely love it. For a whimsical release like this one, what’s the point if you’re not going to go al in and really differentiate it from the black colorway we have dozens of toys of, right? The new portrait with slimy long tongue protruding from the mouth looks awesome as well.

Venom comes with fists that most collectors will likely never display him with, as well as interchangeable clawed hands that are certain to be favored by most. He’s also got a repainted half-transformed Eddie Brock head, which is a nice option since we’ll likely never get a blue Venom Legends figure again.

The other character in this pack isn’t quite as flashy as blue Venom, but is still a headliner in his own right: it’s the GamerVerse version of classic Captain America! Whereas the Venom in this set is largely being sold on its merits as a color choice upgrade, GamerVerse Captain America is a big upgrade of the sculpting variety.

This MvC inspired Captain America is bigger and beefier than previous classic Caps, and has proportions that look spot-on to the game. He’s got an aggro alternate head for those who like their Cap a bit angry, and even a thumbs up hand for posing.

But what’s going to sell this Captain America to a lot of folks is his classic shield (with no battle damage whatsoever) song two-color shield effects piece. The effect looks terrific for recreating Cap’s charging shield bash signature attack from the Capcom games. I love it!

The Marvel Legends Captain America & Venom GamerVerse 2-Pack goes up for sale this Thursday, and is expected to arrive this fall. It’s the only item in this theme slated for a general release, but it may or may not be ordered in large quantities in case stores don’t want to invest much in a one-off video game-inspired set.
