Actress Priscilla Pointer has passed away. She died in her sleep yesterday, April 28, at the age of 100 — and just three weeks shy of her 101st birthday.

She’s perhaps best known for Brian De Palma‘s Carrie, in which she played the on-screen mother to her real daughter, Amy Irving.

Her other horror roles include A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Blue Velvet, Twilight Zone: The Movie, and C.H.U.D. II: Bud the Chud.

Outside the genre, she had notable appearances in “Dallas,” Mommie Dearest, The Falcon and the Snowman, Looking for Mr. Goodbar, and “The Flash.”

Pointer also co-founded the San Francisco Actor’s Workshop in 1952.
