Geordie Greep invited Sean Stephens, the singer behind the viral track ‘I Am Rectangular’ on stage to perform with him. Check out the footage below.

Stephens first went viral with the song in 2023, which he treks across the world to promote, lipsyncing it for TikTok and Instagram in iconic tourist destinations.

Though derided by many online, it found a fan in the former Black Midi frontman, who previously discussed his admiration for the “random” track during an interview on NTS Radio. Since then, he’s even incorporated the riff while performing.

On Friday (January 24), Greep took his interest in the viral hit one step further, welcoming Stephens on stage during a gig in Nashville.

Clips from the concert show Stephens walking through the crowd as Greep and his band begin to play ‘Rectangular’. He then climbs on stage and approaches the microphone, before singing the iconic opening line “I am rectangular/I feel it in my bones/I am rectangular/I feel no hole.”

In other news, Greep released his debut solo album ‘The New Sound’ in October, two months after the “indefinite” end of Black Midi was confirmed by his former bandmate Cameron Picton on social media.

The album scored three stars from NME, with a review reading: “On ‘The New Sound’, though, Greep is neck deep in styles that lend themselves to listener participation beyond head-nodding and slack-jawed awe. More specifically, this is music for dancing. But he still wants the listener to know that, on some level, they’re being messed with.”

Speaking to NME about working on the record, Greep revealed that it was “the first time that I was very transparent about the kind of music I like listen to.”

“I loved being in Black Midi, but these are songs that lend themselves to playing with different people,” he told NME. “Also, I wanted to start doing something which was more under my own name and try something more versatile. I knew I wanted to it eventually.”
