“The Asp’s Big Score!”
The Asp and Miles Oldann have pulled off the score of a lifetime, but this theft carries a heavy burden. N’Kantu, an ancient mummy from time forgotten, and Zephyr, the elemental goddess from another realm, have been tracking the two men through the streets of Cairo. Will the Asp find Doctor Scarab before it’s too late?
What the thieves don’t know is that the Ruby Scarab gem holds the power to destroy the world and everything in it. Fortunately for them, Doctor Skarab, the great descendant of the Sorcerer Nephrus, has extensive knowledge of the ruby and the Mummy who seeks it. Only time will tell if the gem will return to its rightful place in history.
“Contact!”
Howard. The first human to make contact with an alien species. The others laughed and mocked his scientific ideas, but no one will be laughing when Howard demonstrates that his radio beam technology really works. But for now, he will keep his upcoming first contact with alien minds his little secret. That is, of course, until he manipulates every secret from their advanced minds…
Reviewer Notes
Marvel Comics’ Supernatural Thrillers series definitely hit its stride with the Living Mummy storyline. The writing and the artwork were very well done in 1975. Tony Isabella, Val Mayerik, and Tom Sutton were definitely at the top of their game here in issue #11. I really did enjoy this one from cover to cover.
I have to do some research on the Elementals group of demi-gods. They seem quite powerful for who they are, but did they get overshadowed by the likes of the Inhumans or X-Men? Marvel writers had some good ideas which sometimes got lost in the shuffle. In any case, I give this issue of Supernatural Thrillers four out of five stars.
