Reviewer Notes
Magnus Robot Fighter 4000 AD was a pure gem in the 1963 world of comic books, and I can see why it was so popular at the time. Western Publishing Co not only entertained, but they also focused on educating their readers about history and science. In this issue, we get two killer stories written by Robert Schaefer and Eric Freiwald – with art by Russ Manning. Magnus is the clear star here, but Captain Johner and his space cadets could support their own book if needed.
I love post-Atomic-era science fiction stories and the retro technology they represent. For me, issue #3 of Magnus is a solid four out of five stars. The giant robot story is well worth the purchase. Go get this series if you can. Magnus is a great Silver and Bronze Age comic book series.
