Google has rolled out a new temperature monitoring feature for its Pixel lineup with Tensor chipset, which means the Pixel 6 to the Pixel 9, from Tensor 1 to Tensor 4.

Users can find this new functionality by going to Settings > Battery > Battery diagnostics > Phone is very warm or by searching for “Device temperature” in the Settings app, reports 9to5Google.

The feature displays the phone’s current temperature and categorizes it into four levels: Cold, Normal, Warm, and Elevated. Each level has a message informing users about the device’s status and actions to manage the temperature.

For example, in elevated temperature conditions, users may see a message: “Your phone’s estimated temperature is higher than normal. Your phone will try to cool down by temporarily limiting performance and pausing certain features.”

This feature is available on Pixel 6, 7, 8, and 9 series devices, including the Pixel Fold and Pixel 8a. It requires version 1.0.693922709 of the Pixel Troubleshooting app and is currently rolling out via the Play Store.

Along with temperature readings, the app provides users with tips for managing their device’s temperature. These include suggestions for proper airflow, using appropriate cases, and managing apps.
