My Rating

“Huge Detective – Issue 01”

They came from within the Earth. The Huge, they were titans. War came as humanity tried to send the gigantic humanoids back to where they came, but the only solution was global nuclear destruction. Sewing for peace seemed the only logical alternative.

Australia was given to the Huge as most of their kind surfaced there in the vast untamed wilderness. Their country will be known as Brobdingnag. An uneasy cohabitation came next. Then, after years, humans and the Huge will learn to live in peace. Until now.

New York Sanitarium Prison – New York, FBI Agent Tamaki has just arrived to interview the prime suspect of a homicide involving a rogue Huge named Manny. In this time, the Huge confined themselves to Australia, unless they provided services such as transportation for the blossoming mobile hotel business. Manny was the first to venture into upper New York state since the peace agreements. There is only one issue with Tamaki’s case. Manny is not what he claims to be.

Reviewer Notes

What an odd story Titan Comics has here with Huge Detective. As a fan of their Conan series, I decided to pick up this title as an impulse buy. I’m a fan of Japanese Anime and Manga, and the Huge Detective cover art screams this type of vibe. So here I am, reading about giants and FBI murder files. Nice!

The story and art are well done in this first issue. My only question is, how weird it is going to get. I guess I will find out as I have the first three issues in my reading pile. I give Huge Detective #1 four out of five stars.
