Google has officially released its Gemini AI app for iPhone. The app, which is free to download, is now available on the Apple App Store in 35 languages worldwide. Google CEO Sundar Pichai confirmed the app’s availability on X.

The Gemini app now gives iPhone users direct access to Google’s AI chatbot through text, voice, or camera input. The best part is that it all happens without installing the main Google app.

One of the main features of Gemini is Gemini Live, which lets you chat naturally. That means it makes you feel like you’re having a conversation with another human being on a call. You can pick from 10 AI voices and chat in languages like English, Spanish, French, German, or Hindi. I believe Gemini Live is Google’s response to OpenAI’s GPT4o. But I prefer the latter; it’s more fluid than Gemini Live.

The app also offers extras such as AI image creation with Imagen 3, study help tools, and photo analysis features. It integrates with other Google apps through extensions, including YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Calendar. A Live Activity feature allows users to continue conversations while using other apps or when their iPhone is locked.

The Gemini has its limits on iOS. Unlike Siri, it can’t tweak your settings or directly manage other apps, which was expected. Its functionality is limited to interactions within Google’s ecosystem of apps and services.
