“The Brain Of A Killer”

The boy had watched as the madmen took his father’s hands and stitched them to their monstrosity. Then in that dark castle tower he had faced the living thing that it had become. But the mind. There was no accounting of the mind from the boy’s perspective.

Days before the father’s death, Doctor Frankenstein had tasked Fritz with retrieving a freshly harvested brain from the local university morgue room. The recent death of a local scholar had provided ample opportunity for Frankenstein to secure a learned brain for his creation. As fate would have it, his bumbling assistant would return with a less desirable replacement. Doctor Frankenstein would have no choice but to use the mind of a killer.

Will Doctor Henry Frankenstein listen to his old professor and stop the experiment before it’s too late? Can the young boy stop the maniac Fritz from abusing the monster? Does an abnormal brain hold memories even after death? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

The art is very well done once again, but the story follows the exact plot of the classic Universal movie. After issue two of Image Comics Frankenstein, I struggled to understand the purpose of this comic book series. Is this an odd type of director’s cut, so to speak, written to explain where each of the monster’s body parts came from? Or a side story featuring the young boy? I’m not quite sure yet. Until it becomes more apparent, I’m giving Frankenstein #2 three out of five stars.
