“The Second Life of the Original Wonder Woman”

Diana Prince wakes up in a hospital bed somewhere in New York City. Two strangers stare at her as they check her vitals. It is the resident doctor and his nurse. They ask Diana a series of questions but she remembers nothing. Why can’t Diana remember anything. Who am I? How did I get here? This is all Diana seems to ask.

The doctor explains who she is, but none of it rings a bell. Diana fell off a building downtown while battling an insane lunatic sniper. Many civilians were shot and killed. During her fall she managed to save the sniper before she hit her head on a building flagpole. She remembers nothing before or after this ordeal. The only thing that burns in her mind is the words “I must return”!

Where must Diana return to? What secrets do channels 3 and 5 hold? Who is the mysterious Amazonian warrior challenging Diana Prince to the title of Wonder Woman? Collect the facsimile to find out!

Reviewer Notes

I was debating on collecting the Wonder Woman series from the early 1970s, but with the values jumping due to the Gal Gadot movies, I put this impulse off for another day. A reviewer on YouTube covered the original printing and it looked very interesting. So when the facsimile was announced I knew I had to get a copy.

I have to say that I’m impressed with DC Comics production of this facsimile. Everything seems to match the original printing except for the barcode on the cover and the extra footer information on the title page. The paper is a recycled newsprint, but it feels to have a heavier paper weight. The art is sharp and crisp.

As far as the story goes, I don’t want to spoil anything, but… it’s one of the great storyline resets in the Wonder Woman universe. I believe DC Comics tried this on multiple occasions. The cool thing with this reset is they introduce Nubia.

If you are a Wonder Woman collector, or just a fan of bronze age comics in general, I heavily recommend purchasing this reprint. I’m giving this issue 5 out of 5 stars. Go collect!
