The saga that is the development of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 continues as Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room have announced that the long-awaited RPG has been delayed again. Originally planned for a fall 2024 release, the game has now been delayed to the first half of 2025.
In a new update video (which you can see below), Paradox Interactive deputy CEO Matias Lilia stated that the decision to extend development in order to allow The Chinese Room to further polish Bloodlines 2. Lilia went on to say that the game is “in a good place right now”, with the teams deciding to prioritize polish over release date.
“We remain committed to delivering an exciting game to Vampire fans old and new. This commitment is reflected in the history of this development,” says Lilia. “The game is scheduled for release in the first half of 2025. World of Darkness and The Chinese Room will continue to engage with fans of Bloodlines 2, listening to feedback, sharing updates, and showcasing the game in various forms.”
Creative director Alexander Skidmore also joined in on the update video, saying that the team at The Chinese Room “will make the most of the time to polish and ensure quality, while several of the team members will be ready earlier, allowing them to work on things we might not have had time for but are really passionate about.” Skidmore cited additional endings as an example.
“The additional time also allows us to address feedback from our playtests in our user research lab and also to address the feedback we’ve been getting from all of you in response to our Dev Diaries and videos.”
The road to release hasn’t been easy for Bloodlines 2. Originally announced back in 2019, the game was in development under Hardsuit Labs, with a 2020 release date. After pushing the game back into 2021, Hardsuit Labs was dropped as the developer, with the game being pushed again. Eventually, The Chinese Room was revealed as the new developer, with a fall 2024 release date that has now obviously been nixed.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is currently in development for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.
