Radiohead albums ‘Kid A’ and ‘Amnesiac’ will serve as the score for upcoming screenings of 1922 silent horror film Nosferatu. Watch the trailer for the engagement below.

Silents Synced, an initiative by US independent cinema Blue Starlite, will premiere the cinematic pairing in Los Angeles at the Los Feliz Theatre on September 21st – all before a nationwide release on October 5. Tickets are available here.

“Silents Synced is a strategic format to draw new audiences to cinemas for a communal music experience like no other,” Josh Frank, Blue Starlite CEO and Silents Synced founder, told Deadline in June.

“The question for independent theater operators has become what can we do to inspire people to leave their homes outside of Hollywood blockbusters films?” he continued. “While traditional moviegoers will always be our lifeblood, music fans will go to greater lengths for a shared experience. They are a fundamentally new audience for us all.”

Radiohead is the first of several bands confirmed in the Silents Synced line-up for the near future. Deadline reports that the project has been done in coordination with each band’s respective management.

After the Radiohead Nosferatu screenings, Silents Synced intends to focus on an as-yet-revealed R.E.M. album to accompany Buster Keaton’s 1924 comedy Sherlock, Jr..

“The guys thought it seems like a good idea and they like the uncanny way their music and Buster Keaton’s Sherlock, Jr., match up — kind of perfect. What a great and unlikely way of presenting great art,” Bertis Downs, manager for R.E.M, told Deadline.

Future planned screenings will involve music by Pixies, Pearl Jam, They Might Be Giants, and Amon Tobin.

The Nosferatu experiment comes at an opportune time – on Christmas Day this year, The Witch director Robert Eggers will unleash his own remake of the film that stars Bill Skarsgard and Lily-Rose Depp.

In ‘Kid A’-related news, last week saw the release of a previously-unheard song issued by Lupe Fiasco titled ‘Shrink’, which features a sample of ‘Optimistic’ from the 2000 album.
