Bon Iver have been confirmed to perform at a rally as part of Vice President Kamala Harris‘ presidential election campaign this week.

Per a Billboard report, Kamala Harris’ August 7 rally in Wisconsin will feature Bon Iver. The Justin Vernon-led band have yet to publicly voice their support for Harris’ bid to run for President, but are presumed to be voting for the current Vice President given their confirmed attendance at her upcoming rally.

Kamala Harris’ team said of Bon Iver’s performance in a statement to Variety: “Bon Iver [are] taking part because they know Vice President Harris’ values are Wisconsin values. Lead singer Justin Vernon will be joined by bandmates Sean Carey and Michael Lewis to celebrate the state two of them call home and where Bon Iver [were] founded.”

The statement continued: “Bon Iver [have] constantly uplifted their hometown: they consistently debuted new music at the Eaux Claires Music Festival and have regularly invested in and uplifted the local economy. The band [have] also regularly done Get Out The Vote events in Wisconsin. In 2022, they launched a non-partisan effort For Wisconsin to encourage people to bridge their differences and engage in the political process — and over the past month alone they have used their platform to uplift multiple pro-democracy and civil right organizations.”

Bon Iver are now the latest act to throw their support behind Kamala Harris. In recent weeks, rapper Quavo backed Harris for her commitment to tackling gun violence and running the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which was established last year. Megan Thee Stallion performed at the same Harris rally, and vocalised her support for Harris as the next American President, encouraging her fans to vote for her.

Quavo and Megan Thee Stallion are not the only musicians who have expressed their support for the Harris Presidential campaign. Olivia Rodrigo expressed her support for the current Vice President’s campaign over Harris’ stance on reproductive rights. Charli XCX gave her backing to Harris on social media writing: “Kamala IS brat,” while John Legend called for the American public to “elect Kamala Harris as our President”.

Bon Iver released their latest album ‘I, I’ in 2019. In a five-star reviewNME said the band’s fourth album saw Vernon draw on the sounds of the band’s three previous records. “Over 12 years the music Justin Vernon has created as Bon Iver has constantly changed, but that doesn’t mean the old sounds have been undone,” it read. “They’ve been repurposed and reused, evolving into something different – but always as compelling as the Bon Iver of yesteryear.”
