Reboots, sequels, and requels, oh my! Who can keep up? Well, apparently Brandy Norwood that’s who.

With the announcement that I Know What You Did Last Summer is getting hooked into another chapter, the singer and actress wasn’t aware of it even though she is a legacy star in the franchise, having played Karla in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer back in 1997.

“I didn’t know Sony was putting that together,” Norwood told THR in a recent interview. “That’s interesting!”

But could it be that she just following a non-disclosure agreement to keep her role a secret? She emphasizes it is not.

“I’m not pulling a fast one on you,” she said. “I did not know that.”

The reboot is only in the earliest stages of development, not even the original leads, Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Freddy Prinze Jr. have decided if they will return. But Norwood is raring to go.

“I need them to give me a call because I survived in that movie!” Brandy says. “I came out in the end, bloodied up, ready to go. I did not die in that film.” Then added, “Jennifer, Freddie, hit me up.”

It was recently reported that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the director of the upcoming film, clarified that her film will not retcon earlier versions. That means Brandy’s character in I Still Know remains canon. That bodes well for the star who wants a piece of the action.

The new movie is aiming for a 2025 release.
