Get ready FROM-ily. This afternoon,MGM+ and it’s propulsive horror series “From” is celebrating its inaugural visit to San Diego Comic-Con with new casting news, a season 3 premiere date, and a chilling new trailer.
“From” returns for its new season on September 22 on MGM+!
Look for two new faces this upcoming season. Robert Joy (Land of the Dead, The Hills Have Eyes) and Samantha Brown (“Y: The Last Man,” “Chucky”) will join the ensemble cast. Joy will play Henry, a curmudgeon to whom the years have not been kind, while Brown will play Acosta, a new-to-the-force police officer who is in over her head.
You can get a glimpse of both new characters in the intense trailer below. Survival odds look lower than ever, and things are only getting creepier.
The series “unravels the mystery of a nightmarish town that traps all those who enter. As the unwilling residents fight to keep a sense of normalcy and search for a way out, they must also survive the threats of the surrounding forest — including the terrifying creatures that come out when the sun goes down. In the wake of Season 2’s epic cliffhanger, escape will become a tantalizing and very real possibility as the true nature of the town comes into focus, and the townspeople go on offense against the myriad horrors surrounding them.”
The series stars Harold Perrineau (Lost) and an ensemble cast which includes Catalina Sandino Moreno (Maria Full of Grace, The Affair), Eion Bailey (Band of Brothers, Once Upon a Time), Hannah Cheramy (Under Wraps, Van Helsing), Simon Webster (Strays), Ricky He (The Good Doctor), Chloe Van Landschoot (Charity, Skin), Corteon Moore (Utopia Falls), Pegah Ghafoori (The Perfect Wedding), David Alpay (Castle Rock), Elizabeth Saunders (Clarice), Elizabeth Moy, Avery Konrad (Honor Society), and Scott McCord (East of Middle West). Joining the ensemble in Season Two were Nathan D. Simmons (Diggstown, This Hour Has 22 Minutes), Kaelen Ohm (Hit & Run, Eumenides Falls), Angela Moore (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Maid), A.J. Simmons (Reacher), and Deborah Grover (My Next Door Nightmare, Jann).
“From” is created and executive produced by John Griffin (Crater), directed and executive produced by Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones, Mr. Mercedes), and executive produced by Showrunner Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Alias, Lost). Alongside Pinkner, Griffin and Bender, serving as executive producers are Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Scott Rosenberg from Midnight Radio, Anthony and Joe Russo and Mike Larocca from AGBO and Lindsay Dunn. Midnight Radio’s Adrienne Erickson serves as co-executive producer. The series is internationally distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
If you’re not watching “From,” you should. The horror is nonstop, rarely giving its characters a chance to recoup from the onslaught. I wrote in my season two review that the series “hits the ground running, picking up where the inaugural season left off to compound the mysteries, drama, and relentless horror.”
Or listen to Stephen King, “If you’re a horror fan and not watching FROM, you should get with it. Scary shit.”
“From” seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on the MGM+ app, anywhere you access MGM+ and on Prime Video. Catch up ahead of season 3 this September.
