“Valentine Bluffs Massacre – Part 02”
A theme park?! Was that Hollywood producer out of his mind? No. Well, maybe? Mr. Leggit, host of the famous internet prank series “Ain’t That Leggit!” and the producer of low-budget horror films such as “Mommy’s Little Demon”, has purchased several properties around Valentine Bluffs. Now the city mayor has just informed an angry mob that Leggit Productions has also bought the abandoned mine where the Axel Palmer killings took place.
Will the townsfolk of Valentine Bluffs allow the slimy filmmaker to break a forty-year-old tradition by filming on Valentine’s Day? Who is stalking the cast and crew on social media with the username “miner69’er”? Does Leggit Productions have enough money to finish filming their epic masterpiece called “My Bloodiest Valentine”? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
I watched the 1981 film My Bloody Valentine again a few weeks ago, as I don’t remember much of the plot, and the last time I saw it was probably on VHS cassette format. For a movie that was released in theaters when I turned nine years old, it holds up about as well as any of the other slasher movies from that time. Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Sleepaway Camp, just to name a few others in the genre.
My main goal was just to see if writer S.A. Check stayed true to the source material which made the Canadian cult classics so appealing. For those interested in this series, I can say without a doubt that Valentine Bluffs Massacre is a legitimate sequel to the movie with more humor added in. Think Sam Raimi and the Evil Dead franchise.
The only criticism I have of this title, if anything, is that I found the art a bit too cartoony for the subject. I would have thought that AMP would have gone with a more illustrated look, but for what it is, the art is well done. If you’re a fan of the original movie, you will probably like this comic book sequel. I give it a solid four out of five stars.
