Jessica Alba earned her stripes as an action star with her breakout turn as the lead character on the Fox series Dark Angel. She went on to appear opposite Jason Statham in the action remake The Mechanic and its 2016 sequel, Mechanic: Resurrection. Anyone that enjoys seeing the actress kick some ass is likely to find merit in her latest cinematic effort, Trigger Warning.

The Netflix original film features a John Wick-esque narrative. Viewers say Alba delivers iconic fight choreography and a committed performance. That said, critics and fans alike have quickly pointed out that the flick is somewhat formulaic. But it’s certainly making a splash at Netflix. Trigger Warning is the number-one film on the platform today. So, if you’re looking for an entertaining distraction, Trigger Warning may fit the bill.

In addition to Alba, the film stars Mark Webber, Anthony Michael Hall, Alejandro De Hoyos, Tone Bell, and Jake Weary. John Brancato, Josh Olson, and Halley Wegryn Gross penned the screenplay, and Mouly Surya helmed the picture for Netflix.

The setup goes like this: A special forces commando returns to her hometown after her father’s sudden death, only to run afoul of a violent gang when she starts asking questions.
