Hollywood doesn’t recognize the horror community as much as it should. Unfortunately, the genre has been shunned at the high profile award events and conversations regarding filmmaking for decades.

Luckily, that attitude has begun to swing in the other direction. As horror becomes more popular, the genre is finally getting the recognition for art style and cinematography that it deserves. As a result, two horror icons will be receiving their very own stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

That’s right, John Carpenter (The Thing) and Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street) will appear on the Walk of Fame for their legendary impact on the worlds of art and cinema. It was announced today by the Walk of Fame Selection Panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, that these two iconic creators will be added to the 2025 selection.

Although this is long overdue, it is nice to see these two horror icons finally receiving the recognition that they deserve. Without these two creators, horror just would be the same. Horror royalty aside, Carpenter and Englund’s impact on entertainment cannot be confined to a genre or time period.

That being said, it would seem that we are not the only ones who feel this way. Here is a quote from the Hollywood Board members about the horror legends.

“The Walk of Fame has made history again! As Chairman of the Walk of Fame Selection Committee, I am thrilled to announce the distinguished honorees who will grace the iconic Walk of Fame in the Class of 2025. Each honoree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their respective fields. The committee and I cannot wait to see our honorees becoming part of this world-famous walkway!”

Perhaps this is a sign that horror will finally get the recognition it deserves. However, even if nothing else comes from it, few creators deserve this honor more than Englund and Carpenter.
