“Chapter One”

The tavern brawl had been epic! The city guards had arrived in the middle of a celebration to close down the establishment on the Magistrate’s orders. What had the barkeep done to deserve such unfair treatment? It did not matter. Two of the patrons were not done drinking their fill!

A fight broke out between those that were drinking and those who were not. Red Sonja and a mysterious brigand with tattoos covering his entire body were head of the resistance force. No one puts Sonja’s drinking in the corner. No one!

The following morning, Sonja and here coconspirator awoke in the dungeon prison of Blackworm. How they got there, they barely remembered. Was it the fight, the ale, or the darts that stung their backside? Or maybe a combination of it all? All Red Sonja knew was that she must escape before the executioner’s axe claimed her head. But what of the man who fought alongside her? He did claim knowledge of hidden treasure located somewhere in a Hyrkanian mountain valley. Teamwork, it is then!

Reviewer Notes

I see two problems with Empire Of The Damned already. Issue number one was extremely short for the $4.99 price tag. And, didn’t we just read this story in Savage Red Sonja? I’m kind of disappointed here, so I will keep my fingers crossed for a tale of high adventure.

I give issue number one of “Red Sonja: Empire of the Damned” three out of five stars. By Mitra, enough of the alternate covers! The loyal fans want content.
