Action figure collectors asking for troop builders never goes out of fashion, but said collectors also want named characters to accompany said troops. And so, following up on SHIELD army builder figures available over the past decade, Hasbro has now got a pack of the most legendary trio (or quartet) of SHIELD agents: the Marvel Legends SHIELD 3-Pack is now up for order, featuring Dum Dum Dugan, Sharon Carter, and both versions of Nick Fury!
Two years ago (in the Controller BAF Series), Hasbro gifted fans an awesome (and tricky to find for many) Marvel Legends Quake figure that could be converted into Maria Hill. That’s two of the most famous SHIELD agents—now, Hasbro is ready to give us the rest all in one go!
Replacing their old iterations (including one from 16 years ago), updated versions of Marvel Legends Dum Dum Dugan, Sharon Carter and Nick Fury (both Jr and Sr) are coming in fast!
The previous 6” Dum Dum Dugan Legends figure was a Toys R Us exclusive from a two-pack with a white Hand Ninja from way back in 2008, and that pack sells on the aftermarket for around 100 bucks now, leaving it inaccessible for many collectors. Luckily, Hasbro is coming to the rescue with this vastly superior Dum Dum Dugan figure on a modern, pin-free body.
In fact, all the figures in this Marvel Legends SHIELD set are on new age, pin-less bodies that blow away their earlier counterparts aesthetically. And unlike Dum Dum, the other figures in this set even feature rather desirable alternate heads!
With the swap of a head, classic Nick Fury Sr. Becomes his more contemporary Samuel Jackson-ish Nick Fury Jr. self. Both generations of Nick Fury are always popular when available, so I think it’s a real treat for Hasbro to give us both options here in this set. I think it may also help Hasbro to sell a plethora of collectors multiple copies of this set!
Rounding out the 3-pack is a new and improved Sharon Carter figure, with both long-haired and short-haired portrait options. This is a big improvement over the 2016 Sharon Carter figure that I thought was “okay”, and I appreciate both hairstyles being possible with this pack (even if they don’t create a whole other character as the Nick Fury heads do).
Hasbro is going all-out with the accessories, too. In total, the 3-pack includes 9 guns, 12 blast effects for said guns, a knife and a dozen bonus extra hands (plus the two alternate heads). That’s a lot of gear got one box set!
Hasbro occasionally misses the mark with one or more figures in a multi-pack, but I think they’ve hit a home run here with 3 essential upgrades to SHIELD mainstays, and I can see a big swath of fandom even buying a second pack for the alternate looks here. This seems bound to be a whopper of a success for Hasbro.
The Marvel Legends SHIELD 3-Pack is now up for pre-order, and is scheduled to ship out this summer. Is this pack bound for -your- collection, Marvel collectors? Any readers planning to pick up multiples of this set?
