“The Pale Witch”
The chase is on! Being forced to meet an adversary is never a good idea, especially when the one being forced is the infamous Hyrkanian, Red Sonja. Sword, or no sword, the situation makes no difference when there is treasure involved.
Now the redheaded slayer is being pursued over rooftops of a decaying market district, her leopard-like reflexes keep a good distance between chaser and the chased. Being lighter in arms and armor has many advantages, certainly against those such as the Slayers of Shadizar who dress for full combat. Sonja grins in mockery as she knows the mayor’s bodyguards are struggling within their heavy abode as the rotting wood and loose clay shingles that construct their causeway shifts and crumbles even under her own weathered boots.
Good fortune will certainly leave the thief of King Gresh’s scepter as there is a limited number of structures for Red Sonja to flee. With her sword confiscated she has too few options left; turn and be slayed, or jump and let the gods decide her fate. One thing is for certain, the Shadizarians will have to pry the artifact from her cold dead hands.
Does the combined power of the scepter and ruby once yielded by King Gresh grant ultimate power? Will Markus be released from a curse laid upon him by his wife, the dreaded White Witch? Who are the Slayers of Shadizar? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
The folks at Dynamite Entertainment have hit it out of the park once again with Savage Red Sonja #04. Dan Panosian has become my new favorite artist at Dynamite, as his work really sets well with the retro style coloring pallets. It reminds me of a more detailed version of Hellboy comic book art, crossed with old film noir and spaghetti westerns movie posters. I give this issue four out of five stars.
