“Jen-Sational!”
Life is much better when you have someone to come home to. In Jennifer Walters case, that certain someone must absorb a nuclear reactor amount of radiation in order to be around her. Jack of Hearts is her man, but without being topped off with vitamin R every day, say bye-bye to She-Hulk’s gamma glow. This sure puts a strain on their relationship.
How does Jennifer deal with the depressing thoughts of living alone? Work! Well, work and Punch Club. The latter allows her to blow off steam with fellow supers. Did she mention the Club jackets? Old Blue-eyes himself shed a tear when the jackets arrived last week. It reminded him of his youth and the days he ran with the Yancy Street Gang.
But what of Jack of Hearts? How does he manage to stay clear headed when forced into solitude? Will the hand to hand action of She-Hulk’s new club help him deal with the sitch?

Reviewer Notes
Well, issue one of Sensational She-Hulk volume two was way better than I expected. If you have read any of my previous reviews on Rainbow Rowell’s She-Hulk run, you would know I disliked the direction she was taking the characters in, and the overly bland “slice of life” filler that became the bulk of many of the books. So when Marvel advertised the return of the Sensational She-Hulk title with the exact same team that produced the regular series, I was very skeptical to say the least.
To this day I still think the original Sensational She-Hulk series was the best written throughout the years. John Bryne, Steve Gerber, and the other writers on that run left some pretty big shoes to fill. So with that said, when I cracked open issue one of Rainbow’s book I didn’t know what to expect.
The story begins more as a romance comic, but surprisingly it is not over done this time. She-Hulk has her man now, and that is fine, as the two characters quickly part so Jennifer can take on her busy day as a lawyer. The comedy kicks in soon after and we are off to the races.
I did enjoy the second mini-story written by Jessica Gao, the show runner behind the Disney+ She-Hulk series. It may come as a shock some readers here, but I was an actual fan of the television show. Yes they retcon She-Hulk’s origins, and the character’s onscreen personality was a bit wish-washy compared to the comic books, but some of the same things can be said about the original Incredible Hulk series starring Bill Bixby. That show strayed from the original books as well.
As I binge read the first five issues of the new Sensational She-Hulk series this week, I will keep my fingers crossed that Rainbow Rowell does a better job at balancing the different aspects of Jennifer Walters and her chaotic life as an attorney and gamma powered superhero. This issue gets a four out of five star review. Until next time collect the series if you dare!
