In the first episode of Ahsoka, the new Rosario Dawson–starring Star Wars show on Disney+, the series’ typically orchestra-forward score is interrupted by what sounds like a more traditional rock song. It soundtracks a speeder bike chase scene centered on the character Sabine Wren (played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo). It’s called “Igyah Kah,” and it’s sung by Illuminati Hotties’ Sarah Tudzin.

“Igyah Kah” was composed by series composer Kevin Kiner, Ludwig Göransson, Deana Kiner, and Noah Gorelick. When reached by Pitchfork, Tudzin explained how she got involved: “Star Wars composer Deana Kiner has been a friend and collaborator for years, and when she reached out about grabbing some vocals for a TOP SECRET Star Wars project she composed the score for, I was game! I was of course excited to help, but when I knew the cue was all about going full-gremlin mode, I knew I could crush it for her! Honored to be a part of such a special universe.”

Tudzin’s appearance on the show’s soundtrack marks the latest instance of an indie musician interfacing with the Star Wars canon. Thundercat starred in The Book of Boba Fett as a body-modification surgeon. Oneohtrix Point Never scored a recent Star Wars animated short. Donald Glover starred as Lando Calrissian in Solo and is set to return to the character with an upcoming series. Nigel Godrich once played a Stormtrooper, which is almost as cool as Thom Yorke having a thoughtful conversation with BB-8.
