Way back in 2010, Hasbro released a classic Crimson Dynamo figure as part of their 4” Iron Man 2 line of action figures. It was a pretty great figure for that scale, and when 6@ Marvel legends returned two years later, collectors hoped a classic Crimson Dynamo would be imminent from Hasbro. 13 years and hundreds of figures later, ol’ Dynamo has still never materialized in classic form (though there was a modern version BAF). But as happens from time to time, Diamond Select Toys is picking up the slack! At SDCC 2023, Marvel Select Crimson Dynamo was revealed to complement their existing Marvel Select Titanium Man!

2024 Marvel Select Crimson Dynamo Mark IV Toy

I rather like the Marvel Legends Crimson Dynamo Build-A-Figure from the Black Widow Series (which I reviewed back in 2020), but there’s no denying that that modern design BAF didn’t scratch the itch of long-time collectors who were pining away for the classic armor permutation.

Even so, with a lot of unique tooling required for a character without mainstream popularity, Hasbro has backburnered that style of Dynamo for over a decade now. But just as they did with Marvel Select Titanium Man in 2021, DST is swooping in for the save with a stellar looking classic Crimson Dynamo Select figure of their own!

Unhelmeted Mark IV Crimson Dynamo Select Figure Dimitri Portrait

Diamond Select Toys premiered their upcoming Crimson figure at their booth at San Diego Comic Con 2023 and then released official photos of the 7″ action figure shortly thereafter.

Alternate Head on Diamond Select Toys Crimson Dynamo 7 Inch Figure

The figure is based on the Crimson Dynamo Mark IV armor (worn by Dimitri Bukharin, who the unhelmeted portrait depicts), which stands 6’10” tall in the comics. As such, the 7” Marvel Select figure size should theoretically be pretty appropriate to blend this figure in with a 6” Marvel Legends collection. Let’s hope so, as there’s no indication still that Hasbro is working on this character themselves!

DST’s Crimson Dynamo is looking great with an alternate helmet, an unmasked head and even eye blast effects! Hasbro’s would likely be more articulated if they ever did one, but I’m not convinced they’d include all these cool extras.

Marvel Select Crimson Dynamo should be up for order within the next couple months, since official photos have already become available. Personally, I’d expect this to be in the solicitations DST announces in just a few weeks (late August 2024), with my predicted release date of spring 2024. Will you be adding this armor to your personal Hall of Armors, Marvel collectors?
