Broken Bird Games’ psychological horror game Luto, which has been in development for a long while now, reappeared at the Future Games Show with a new trailer. Said trailer was also accompanied by a new demo, which you can try out on the Luto Steam page.

As for a release date, that’s again the big question. Originally scheduled to come out last year, Luto instead made an appearance at last year’s Future Games Show. That 2022 release date now been changed to “coming soon”.

As for the demo itself, you’ll get a sense pretty quickly of what the final version of Luto will be like. Moving around the house, your view will shift, leaving you unable to trust what you’re seeing. Adding to the unease will be the objects in your house moving around on their own, ghostly figures briefly appearing, and other reality-defying instances.

In Luto, you play as a person who, pained by loss and the resulting mental anguish, is trapped in their own home. Finding a way to leave will result in a series of paths that will “challenge your senses.” That in turn involves exploring the pain caused by the loss of a loved one, the horror of the insecurity to the deepest darkness hidden behind anxiety and depression. That anxiety in Luto will, in turn, be explored by different phobias, including monophobia (fear of being alone), claustrophobia, agoraphobia, nyctophobia (fear of the dark) and more.

Luto is currently in development to release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.
