Still need convincing that Dead Island 2 is on the way? Deep Silver and Dambuster have released a new 14-minute gameplay trailer for the upcoming open world zombiefest, kicking off the action at the very beginning of the game in Bel Air, Los Angeles.
Featuring Dani, one of the Slayers you’ll be playing as in Dead Island 2, the gameplay footage sees her meeting up with Standard zombies (Walkers, Shamblers, Runners), Variant zombies (grenadier walkers), and Apex zombies (hyper mutated zombies), each one with its own powers and behaviors.
That’s not to say that players will be at a disadvantage. You’ll be making use of each Slayer’s abilities, along with Skill Cards to enhance abilities and create unique player builds. You can also take advantage of the environment around you, allowing you to even the odds through chaining together different elemental damage types such as electricity, fire and acid.
Also on display is the FLESH System (Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids), which as we’ve seen previously, allows for detailed levels of gore in your gameplay as you crush bones and slice up zombies in Dead Island 2.
Lastly, we get a taste of what happens when your chosen Slayer activates their corrupted DNA and triggers Fury Mode.
Dead Island 2 will release on PC via the Epic Games Store, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on April 21.
