Watch Lizzo Perform “Break Up Twice” and “Someday at Christmas” on SNL

Austin Butler hosted the episode, which was the last of cast member Cecily Strong’s 11-year run on the show

Lizzo was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night; actor Austin Butler was the host. She performed “Break Up Twice” from her 2022 album Special and her rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas.” Lizzo’s stage set and costume during her performance of “Break Up Twice” paid homage to Annie Lee’s painting “Blue Monday.” The singer also appeared in a Please Don’t Destroy sketch about plastic shirts, starring as Martin Herlihy’s girlfriend. Check it out below.

This is the third time Lizzo has performed on SNL. She first guested in 2019 in an Eddie Murphy-hosted episode; she would return earlier this year to debut the title track for Special. Yeah Yeah Yeahs were set to be the musical guest for the episode, but had to pull out to accommodate guitarist Nick Zinner’s monthlong bout of pneumonia.

Lizzo recently announced a slate of North American concerts in Spring 2023. Her new documentary Love, Lizzo premiered on HBO Max November 24. She is nominated for both Album, Song, and Record of the Year at the 2023 Grammys
