Here we go again, it seems. After finally revealing Dead Island 2 earlier this year, Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios have announced a slight delay for the game’s release. By 12 weeks.
Announced via Twitter, Dead Island 2 will no longer be coming out February 3, 2023. Instead, the game will arrive on April 28 for PC via the Epic Games Store, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. And yes, the irony is not lost on the team. According to the post, the delay is to ensure that Dambuster is able to release Dead Island 2 in the best possible state.
It’s not all bad news, however. Dambuster will be dropping a new trailer and gameplay footage during the Dead Island 2 Showcase on December 6, which will be broadcast on Twitch and YouTube.
The story for Dead Island 2 takes place several months after the events of the first game, with the United States military putting the California under full quarantine. Now a restricted zone, California has become a bloody paradise for those who refuse to leave their homes and an action-packed playground for renegades who seek adventure, glory and a fresh start.
Combining the classic Dead Island elements of immersive close combat, action and role-playing, Dead Island 2 features crazy, never-before-seen handcrafted weapons and over-the-top characters in taking players from the iconic Golden Gate to the celebrated beachfront boardwalk of southern California’s Venice Beach.
The delay is just 12 short weeks and development is on the final straight now. The new release date for Dead Island 2 will be April 28th 2023.#DeadIsland #SeeYouInHELLA pic.twitter.com/Vf1NARTECo
