“Launch trailers” are coming earlier and earlier. Gotham Knights, the action-adventure title developed by WB Games Montreal starring four of Batman’s former sidekicks, isn’t releasing for another two weeks, but Warner Bros. just released the game’s Official Gameplay Launch Trailer. To be fair, it’s possibly Gotham Knights‘ best trailer to date, bearing a cinematic feel but with no shortage of gameplay. The trailer features cutscenes that tease the overarching narrative of the open world title and footage of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin fighting off the Gotham City underworld. It also provides a fresh look at some of the super villains players will face, including Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, and the Court of Owls in their first video game appearance.

Gotham Knights features the Batman Family as players step into the roles of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin, a new guard of trained DC Super Heroes who must rise up as the protectors of Gotham City in the wake of Batman’s death. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, players will confront an array of challenges as they evolve into their own version of the Dark Knight.
