One booth I was looking forward to seeing at SDCC was the NECA booth and it was amazing! NECA had a number of reveals for most of their toy lines and I was very happy with all of these lines I collect. It was great to see the Predator Lost Tribe Ultimate line continue and it was great seeing Ultimate Elder & Snake Predators. They both look fantastic and I really like Snake’s Mask, I’ll definitely be getting Snake, Elder, and Shaman as they are very unique looking. The reason NECA didn’t show anything from Prey yet is that they have to wait till after the film is released next week to reveal Feral Predator and have it up for pre-order which I am really excited about as I like the look of Feral so far.
There wasn’t anything for Alien and I am guessing that’s to do with Disney having the rights. The Dungeons and Dragons line looks fantastic Strongheart and Zorak. I am very excited to see Warduke and Grimsword hit retail soon. NECA had a massive TMNT selection, especially for the cartoon which I am not that interested in it. I was very happy to see more of the comics figures and they do look really great it’s nice to see more offerings from The Last Ronin which look great and I am very excited about them. Also, the Universal Monsters crossover figures look awesome.
NECA had a few new Retro offerings just two figures from AC/DC, I am not much into the band, it was great to see the Elton John set which looks incredible and will take a lot of space up on the shelf. I was really excited to see the Universal Monsters line with the new figures revealed being the Creature of The Black Lagoon which looked incredible, I am very excited about that and I am even more excited for Bela Lugosi’s Dracula which looks outstanding. I don’t know how NECA do it but they have nailed the likeness on all their Universal Monsters Ultimate figures so far.
The Gargoyles figures look great and I can see NECA expanding that as much as the TMNT Cartoon line, for me I would just get the core characters and that’s it.
It was great to see the accessory sets as well and I definitely would love to get the Mummy and Dracula accessory sets as they are really must-haves and are more than just decorations. It was lovely to see the tease of The Bride of Frankenstein which I am very excited to see, hopefully, we’ll see her at NYCC later this year. I am extremely excited for the future and I do wonder what other films and characters will appear in the future. NECA is interested in continuing the line for an extensive period of time.
We didn’t see anything from Hammer Horror but NECA has said that they have started sculpting and it would be a dream to have Christopher Lee’s Dracula and Frankenstein Monster with his Universal Monsters contemporaries. I was curious to see that NECA has The Munsters license and is doing figures from the upcoming film. I am not that interested in the film, but I do like the look of the Herman Munster figure and I would like to know if they have the license for the series I know it’s still very popular so it is possible.
We saw the creatures from The Thing the disturbing Huskie monster in two forms, they looked suitably grotesque and I am not sure if I would get them or not. The Toony Terrors selection looks great and I like seeing all the Hocus Pocus figures I know there will be a big demand for them and the Killer Klowns from Outer Space ones look fantastic, I know fans would love Ultimate versions of these as well. The expanded Gremlins line looks great and it’s nice to see NECA revisit the E.T. line with new Ultimate figures to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary.
I didn’t expect NECA to get the Dinosaurs license and I do admit the figures look absolutely fantastic and just like how they look in the show. They look just as good as the ALF figure and it’s nice to see NECA do well in the niche creature-based sitcom figure market. The only things I wished we saw at the booth were more of The Boys figures with the show being incredibly popular it would have been nice to see a new figure or two revealed and I would have loved to of seen the Krampus figure, hopefully, we’ll see him at NYCC.
Overall I had a great time at SDCC and I loved seeing the NECA booth when I was there.
