A dedicated Minecraft player has managed to construct an impressive map room with a glass floor, allowing one to walk over the creation and view it from above. While map rooms are nothing new to the iconic survival sandbox title, the quality of builds constantly improves as the community continues to push the boundaries on what can be created in-game.
Over the past decade, Minecraft’s massive creations have become a key part of the game’s identity with some notable ones spanning entire worlds. Sometimes these grand feats can overshadow significantly smaller creations that can be just as impressive in their own right. Map rooms depicting one’s world in Minecraft can be particularly frustrating by the way they cause the game to lag just by their presence. Even with that drawback, however, some players push ahead to create them anyway and the most recent creation has a unique way to view it.
Reddit user _Tech_Dog posted a short video showcasing their newest map room hidden in an underground room that requires pressing a switch to enter. The map itself is under a glass floor, allowing the player to look down at the impressive sight as they walk across it. Unfortunately, the map’s inclusion did cause _Tech_Dog’s world to lag, but they say they are still proud of it and many of the comments offered their praise for the build accomplishment.
When it comes to some of the more massive creations such as the recently constructed Theed City recreation from The Phantom Menace, maps would probably be ideal inclusions for helping some players get around, especially if they downloaded an unfamiliar world. Unfortunately, the larger the Minecraft world, the more lag that is introduced to the game, and therefore maps become impractical after a certain level of detail is reached. This is largely due to how maps constantly update unless they are specifically designed not to do so, which can take a fair bit of extra effort.
The possibilities of what can be done in Minecraft will only continue to expand as technology continues to improve. Updated hardware will not only allow larger creations, but it will also pave the way for new and exciting mods making Minecraft feel mysterious once more. Even after a decade, the game continues to evolve and there are no signs that this evolution will slow anytime soon.
