Lost Judgment is the sequel to 2018’s Judgment and the newest installment in the Yakuza game series. It follows private detective Takayuki Yagami as he investigates a dark and puzzling murder. Throughout the game, Yagami will use his various detective tools to solve mysteries both as part of the main story and for side cases.
Completing side cases is a big part of Lost Judgment. Yagami will be able to start side cases from the board in the detective office. Solving side cases will grant SP in Lost Judgment which can be used to upgrade Yagami’s skills and powers. With each chapter in the game, new cases will be available, and they will vary in difficulty and length.
Throughout Lost Judgement players will have opportunities to participate in fun and unique activities including playing classic Sega games and becoming friends with a cat. In Chapter 3, players will be able to complete the side case “The Forbidden Taste.” To complete this case, Yagami must feed, name, and become friends with a cat. There are multiple cats available to choose from to complete this quest, and there are also stray cats roaming around that Yagami can find for the Stray Cat side mission.
How to Befriend a Cat in Lost Judgment
In the “Forbidden Taste” quest, Yagami tracks down a phantom Ramen stall with the help of a feline companion. Players will first travel to Meng Wu to start the mission, then to several more locations before returning to the restaurant, where Joe suggests that Yagami befriends a cat. There will be a marker near Meng Wu indicating where the cats can be found. At first, the cats will run from Yagami until Nekomiya teaches him how to be friends with one.
Players will need to purchase cat food from one of the Poppo Markets. It’s recommended that they purchase two, but just one will work for the first interaction if players are short on yen. Players should return to the area with the cats, and one of them will randomly come up to Yagami. Players get the chance to give the cat a name, but they must remember it for later interactions.
To develop a friendship with the cat, Yagami can simply offer it food twice. Alternatively, Yagami may remember the cat’s name, stare affectionately, pet it, and offer it food once. Players will have to leave and come back in between each interaction for this to work. After completing one of the two options, the cat will be Yagami’s friend.
Unfortunately, the cat that approaches and interacts with Yagami is random each time, so it may take a few tries to make one his friend. If a different cat interacts with Yagami, players can just leave and come back until the one they were working with comes up to them again. Once Yagami has a cat friend, it will lead him to the phantom Ramen stall to complete the “Forbidden Taste” side case.
Lost Judgment is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
