Developer Roll7 is set to dive back into its 2D-platforming skateboarding series in late 2021 when OlliOlli World releases. The game takes the foundation the team built with its first two titles and builds on it with new features. These include things like the ability to trick through quarter pipes and improved replayability with branching paths.

The additions don’t end there, though, as OlliOlli World is looking to expand player expression through new customization options. Skateboarding games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Skate have always made it a point to really dig into skate culture. OlliOlli World appears to be doing exactly that, albeit with some added levity in the form of a few wackier costumes.

Players will be able to customize everything from their skin tone and hair color to their body shape. And the game doesn’t look to be putting many restrictions on players, as skin tones in OlliOlli World range from realistic to hues like bright lime green. Of course, character customization goes much further than that.

What Customization Options Are In Olli Olli World

Players will also be able to change up their outfits with several different options. There are choices for everything from hats and glasses to tattoos and elbow pads. And, just like in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, players will be able to give their skateboards some customization. Whether it’s a new deck or different colored wheels, OlliOlli World wants to give players full control over their looks. There will be hundreds of wearable items, and some of these will be available instantly while other pieces of gear will need to be unlocked. The customization even extends to gameplay, with several different styles for players to shuffle through until they find something they prefer.

OlliOlli World takes all of the tricks seen in games like Skate and lets players modify their own repertoire however they like. That means anyone who prefers old-school skateboarding can switch to a style focused on grab tricks while others can take things more modern with flips and big air. If they want, players can drill down even further and switch out how they run into a line or give themselves a fun pose to end a run with.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 really started to bring skateboarding games back to the forefront. Now, fans are finally going to get a Skate 4, and there’s no shortage of indie games to try out. From Skater XL and Session to SkateBIRD, there are plenty of skateboarding options. OlliOlli World stands out from the crowd due to its 2D gameplay and customization.
