Revealed today courtesy of Chizai Watch, it’s been announced that Koei Tecmo had trademarked the kanji logo for the series’ Japanese name, Project Zero. The company had filed the trademark on July 7.

While it may very well be in preparation for the release of Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water later this year, one would hope that it might be leading to something bigger.

After all, series producer Keisuke Kikuchi has mentioned several times that he wants to do something special for the series’ 20th anniversary later this year. And Kikuchi did say that his team were developing “a wide range of titles”.

Then again, those “titles” may be unrelated to Fatal Frame. Fingers crossed that this leads to something more other than just Pachinko.

Meanwhile, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water will arrive on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on October 28.

Thanks to Gematsu for the heads up.
