Let the Right One In TV show casts The Walking Dead star Kevin Carroll. The atmospheric Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In, an adaptation of a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist, became an acclaimed horror hit when it was released in 2008. In 2010 Hollywood made its own version, entitled Let Me In, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee. Now Showtime is going ahead with a pilot for a TV show version of the story starring Demián Bichir, Anika Noni Rose, Grace Gummer and Larry Pine.

Variety reports that Showtime’s Let the Right One In has added to that already intriguing cast with The Walking Dead‘s Carroll. He plays Zeke Dawes, a restaurant owner who is friends with Bechir’s character Mark, the father of the story’s young vampire main character Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez). Jacob Buster and Ian Foreman have also joined the cast in the respective roles of Peter and Isaiah.

Carroll may be best known to fans of genre TV for playing Virgil, the Oceanside captive who befriended Michonne in season 10 of The Walking Dead. His TV resume also includes Lucifer, Snowfall, The Leftovers and many others. He’s also had roles in a diverse array of films including Being John Malkovich, Margaret, Blindspotting and Bloodline. Showtime’s attempt at a Let The Right One In TV adaptation is the second that’s been mounted after a previous project was set up at TNT only to stall out.

The synopsis for Showtime’s Let the Right One In reads as follows: “The series centers on a father and his 12-year-old daughter whose lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire.”
