Late actor Chadwick Boseman is being honored by his alma mater Howard University. According to a report by the Washington Post, Howard has renamed its college of fine arts the “Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts.” Boseman graduated from Howard in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in directing. He returned in 2018 to receive an honorary doctorate from the university. He also gave the commencement speech for that year’s graduating class.

According to the Washington Post, Howard is erecting a new building for the fine arts college. It will also house the Cathy Hughes School of Communications, its TV station, WHUT, and its radio station, WHUR 96.3 FM. There has not yet been a date revealed for the college to break ground on the new building. Read the full story via the Washington Post.

Boseman died of colon cancer last August. He was 43 years old. This year, he posthumously won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes for his portrayal of a trumpet player named Levee in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
