Previously played by Ray Park in both The Rise of Cobra and Retaliation, Snake Eyes is getting his own solo movie with upcoming G.I. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes, which had at one point been scheduled for release in March 2020. Snake Eyes will now release in theaters on July 23, 2021, and Entertainment Weekly brings us a first-look preview today with official images.

Henry Golding stars as Snake Eyes, with the cast also including Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) as Scarlett. Úrsula Corberó is the Baroness and Andrew Koji is Storm Shadow.

Robert Schwentke (R.I.P.D.) directed Snake Eyes, written by Evan Spiliotopoulos. The film is set to tell the origin story of Snake Eyes, the mysterious commando of the G.I. Joe team.

“Having this solo movie, we get to set the precedent for where [Snake’s] story leads,” Golding explains to Entertainment Weekly. “It’s phenomenal that Paramount and Hasbro chose to go right to the beginning and really start off with such a story. It gives so much more creative control over where this universe is going. I’m crazy excited to see what we do next.”
